Samyang Corporation has embarked on a journey to promote its water treatment technological prowess accumulated over 50 years.
Samyang Corporation (President Kang Ho-sung), a food and chemical affiliate of the Samyang Group, announced on the 28th that it hosted the "2022 Water Treatment Technology Seminar" at Four Points by Sheraton located in Guro-gu, Seoul with LG Chem and Ecorbit Engineering, inviting 200 executives and employees from client and partner companies.
This seminar was designed to present the overall water treatment business, whose demand is constantly increasing in tandem with the growth of high-tech industries such as semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, and hydrogen fuel cells, as well as to share the latest technology trends and related products. In addition, leading companies in the industry gathered to understand the characteristics of each of their water treatment materials, pursuing to create synergy among water treatment business operators.
Samyang Corporation make the first step by introducing its ion exchange resin brand, "TRILITE”. It then explained the basic concept and features of ion exchange resins and announced the latest trends in water treatment technology. In particular, its presentation on the characteristics and application cases of ultrapure water for semiconductors and pure resin for nuclear power plants, both of which are growing rapidly in the global market, drew the attention of the audience.
Samyang Corporation, which has a track record of supplying to the nuclear power plant, semiconductor, and display industries of Korea that dominate the global market, is also aiming for overseas markets using the same brand name "TRILITE". Ultrapure water and water treatment for power plants are some of the main growth drivers of the global ion exchange resin market worth KRW 2 trillion, which is growing at an annual average of about 4–5%.
Additionally, Samyang Corporation demonstrated "Triangle", a self-developed water treatment design program intended to enhance customer convenience. The Triangle program, which is optimized to Samyang Corporation's ion exchange resin products, measures the amount of ion exchange resin required according to the amount of raw water.
Lastly, Samyang Corporation introduced its ion exchange resin recycling business, which was launched for the first time in Korea in April this year, as well as suggested sustainable growth by pursuing eco-friendliness. Samyang Corporation supplies ion exchange resins to semiconductor and display fabrication companies. After a predetermined number of uses, the company collects spent ion exchange resins, recovers them by removing foreign substances (ions), regenerates them, and then supplies them again. Samyang Corporation's ion exchange resin recycling business is the first and only one in Korea. The company's goal is to provide a "total aqua solution" that covers ion exchange resin production, supply, collection, and recycling.
"It was a meaningful event to look back on the present state of Korea's water treatment industry and share the technological and networking capabilities accumulated by Samyang Corporation, LG Chem, and Ecorbit Engineering," said Cho Young-do, managing director of Samyang Corporation's SC PU. "We will take the lead in the development of Korea's water treatment industry by increasing the sales portion of premium ion exchange resins used in semiconductor fabrication and power plants and expanding sales outlets domestically and abroad.”
Meanwhile, Samyang Corporation has been at the forefront of the domestic ion exchange resin industry under the brand "TRILITE" since it has succeeded in localizing ion exchange resins production at its Ulsan plant in 1976. In 2014, Samyang Fine Technology was founded for the manufacturing of next-generation ion exchange resins. Samyang Fine Technology's Gunsan plant has an annual capacity of 20,000 tons—the largest in Asia. It started localizing premium ion exchange resins in 2020 by supplying ion exchange resins used for water treatment facilities in nuclear power plants. Following the supply of ion exchange resins for hydrogen vehicle filters last year, Samyang Fine Technology contributed to the localization of materials, parts, and equipment by supplying homogeneous ion exchange resins to ultrapure water manufacturing facilities that are used to produce semiconductors and displays. |
